The First Steps

It started with an unusual and spectacular work assignment….  A collection of exceptional American craftsmen, aka some of our very best friends, had the privilege of working together to build a guesthouse on Mustique Island in the Grenadines, recruited from Cranbrook Academy of Art, where we had met a couple years before.

Fast forward a couple more years, and I join one of those craftsmen, Chris Merz, on the project. Inevitable long walks on the beach become the talks that turn to marriage and the marriage into Merzatta.

The Sea Fan Collection began with coral washed up on this very shore. And just for the sake of romance, here’s the staircase up to our room….
