The new year calendar is ripe with opportunity. January has spaces for dreaming. The east cost found itself quieted by snow this week on a day already set aside. We walked long in our neighborhood's wild spaces and I was grateful for the trees that stand, the light that shines, that chill that always makes me feel more alive.

January is also Cervical Cancer Awareness month! The only thing that could make me happier than when you text me a photo of you delighting in wearing our jewelry is a text that says you've also just scheduled a Pap smear, or whatever your preventative tests may be!

I'm in DC this week for the Cervical Cancer Summit powered by Cervivor, a twenty-year patient advocacy group dedicated to ending stigma, influencing change, and ending this disease. I spoke about my experience at the NJ State Legislature last year and was ceremoniously gifted a copy of the legislation that added Cervical Cancer Awareness month to the New Jersey State Calendar and yes, I paraded this fancy seal around to all my doctors in the appointments that followed! Next week in Trenton, one of only two physicians in the NJ legislature will speak on the subject, and advocates and patients will gather beforehand to story-tell to law makers. Then we'll stand in the gallery when the attention shifts, for its brief moment, to Cervical Cancer eradication.

Patient advocacy, in all its complexity, has showed me that stories save lives.

You have showed me that jewelry saves stories.

Stay with me on the transitive property here...

What are the stories of your life, of your love, of your family, that have been captured in objects? And what are the stories that are yet to be perserved? So few things outlive us, but metal and stone pieces designed to wrap your body in beauty and care literally last for lifetimes. They are pulled from the rubble of fires, they are passed in secret or given in ceremony, because they matter. They stand at attention, in our jewelry boxes or next to our bedsides, waiting for us to greet each day, eager to help us remember our stories: to remind us who we are.

Maybe there are new pieces for you to define this chapter in your story. Maybe something precious to you no longer fits in size, format, or style. We can help you with metal + gemstones until your story sings.
