We discovered this extraordinary fern on the San Juan Islands of Washington State, at a picnic on a rock cliff during the golden hour before sunset, with sea lions chattering down below. We love how the collection of delicate spikes create a bold geometric pattern, but we also love the intricate organic structure of each leaf.
