The fibers of a pinion branch form a beautifully thick band.

We didn’t expect to find a beautiful organic pattern inside a decaying pinecone. But hiking in Nevada, we noticed one lying on the ground, with so much of its structure worn away that the striking pattern of veins that feed each petal-like bract was exposed. To us, the pattern of these petals of a pinecone is a perfect reminder of the things that can only be revealed by time, and how many wonders of the world are waiting for us, the instant we look past the surface.
